My daughter can pee but continues to have bowel movements in her diaper.
When she goes to her dad's house, every other weekend, she holds it the entire time, then upon return ... will 'empty' herself out and then be fine for the next 2 weeks. When she goes back to her dad's, she will hold it in or only go if he puts her in a diaper.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Thanks

I'm sure you've already asked him, but is it possible he doesn't clean up as well as you do? Or she isn't comfortable with Dad doing the clean up?

Hi Anne,
I'm sure you and her father have discussed this but coming up with a 'game' plan that you can both follow is important. Children thrive on consistency and each of you being able to address the issue of her bowel movements (BM) in a similar way is important. It is also better for her physically, to have her BMs on a regular basis, not holding them all weekend. Some nice ways to encourage her to use the potty for BMs are:
-Catch her when she is having BM, look for her cues and try to encourage her to go into the bathroom to do this.
-After she has finished her BM, remove her diaper and put the BM in the toilet, tell her that BMs belong in the toilet.
-Try a behavioral approach of a sticker chart. If she sits on the potty and does her BM, she gets to add a sticker to the chart! Once the chart is filled in, she can turn in her stickers for a prize.

Good luck!
